Working From Home
Engage North Interns - Katie & Mary
Here you’ll hear about the experiences of two Engage North interns working from home this summer! Although Engage North interns usually travel to northern communities for the summer, this year has been different due to COVID-19. Below you can read a bit about Katie and Mary. Katie
Hi! My name is Katie and I just finished my third year of study in cell biology. My hobbies include reading, fencing, and hanging out with friends in Edmonton’s beautiful river valley. I am one of the health and wellness interns with Engage North this summer. I have had the incredible opportunity to work with both Beaver First Nation and Dene Tha’ First Nation on several projects. Check out my blog posts to learn more!
Mary
Hi, I’m Mary! I just finished my second year of Environmental Studies at the University of Alberta. I’m a Lands intern with Engage North this summer, supporting Dene Tha’ First Nation and Beaver First Nation. It’s been a wonderful experience working with Engage North this summer, even from the comfort of my bedroom. When I’m not working, I love going for walks, baking, sewing, and playing cello!
